CUSTOMER ANNOUNCEMENT – COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) – TUESDAY 24TH MARCH 2020 - SITE OPERATIONS

Since the Prime Minister’s announcement last night, Monday, 23rd March 2020, we have now been able to clarify the position with regards to the National lockdown. All car Showrooms are to close but workshops can remain open.

As a family owned, family run business our priority is the safety of our staff, clients, their families and the general public. Social distancing must be our key objective and therefore we have taken the decision to close all departments (including our service departments). We thank everyone most sincerely for their commitment, hard work and loyalty through this challenging crisis.

The majority of our 100 staff will not be working in the business and will be sent home today once we have spoken to customers/dealt with a number of emergency issues and returned customer cars currently on our premises.

I have, however, made plans to have two technicians at Malton and York (Monday to Friday) to carry out MOT Tests already booked and to provide emergency support. We hope this will provide all customers with the comfort that they can carry out any essential journeys and as such any emergencies can be dealt with. Our emergency working hours are Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm, for the duration of the three weeks lockdown but please do not contact us unless your requirement is urgent.

Unfortunately, we won’t be fulfilling any existing service bookings or taking new bookings during the three weeks lockdown period but will be contacting all customers who have existing bookings to make alternative arrangements. Additionally, we are in the process of contacting customers who are due to collect their new vehicles to rearrange collection dates.

Our Parts department will be closed.

Our Fleet department will be operating online and via email through your normal contact procedures.

Whilst our Retail Sales department will be closed, we will continue to deal with new and used car enquiries through our online website www.raychapmanmotors.co.uk. With significant supply constraints expected on all new car production (not already in the system) we are expecting to see a surge in used car values hence this might be a good time to make a purchase! Any enquiry received through our website will be dealt with by online sales specialists working from home. Our online sales team will be bored so please take advantage of their time!

We will not be answering the telephone at either site but should you have an emergency simply email wendy.chapman@raychapmanmotors.co.uk or telephone 07973 113529 and she will redirect your message to the most appropriate member of staff who will look after you. The same applies to new and used car enquiries.

Please be assured that we are here to look after you and we will be up and running as soon as instructed to do so by the Government.
