Long serving employee at Ray Chapman Motors Malton, Dan Watson has taken up his new role running the service department.

Having been with the RCM for 18 years, Dan became the aftersales department’s team leader two years ago and was promoted to service manager this year. He is now responsible for the front-of-house and workshop teams.

Dan earned his stripes after taking responsibility for the task of implementing Volvo’s new service strategy known as Personal Service Technicians (PST) for which he received an accreditation from Volvo UK.

Carried out in workshop bays equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment and tools, technicians work on cars as pairs rather than individually, which means work can be carried out twice as fast, nearly halving customer wait times. PST forms part of Volvo’s ‘Personal Service’, which streamlines aftersales functions to improve workshop efficiency while delivering a much more personal service to customers via dedicated service technicians.

Commented Dan: “I was honoured to be offered the opportunity to run the department. Having worked here for so many years, I have developed strong relationships with our customers and with other members of the team and the positive feedback I have received from everyone has been overwhelming.”

Duncan Chapman, Dealer Principal, said: “We have a strong tradition of ‘growing our own’ and it is always a great pleasure to see someone who joined us several years ago work their way up the career ladder into a hugely responsible position. Dan is a great asset to the business and we very much hope he will remain at the helm of our service department for several more years to come.
