Volvo EX30 lifts Best EV Crossover title in the 2024 Topgear.com Electric Awards
• Volvo’s fully electric small SUV adds a further title to its impressive honours list
• Topgear.com declares all-new model “blows every other EV in the £35k bracket into the weeds”
The Volvo EX30 continues to gather award-winning momentum, being crowned the
Best EV Crossover in the 2024 Topgear.com Electric Awards. It is the latest
accolade in a growing list of honours – now into double figures – bestowed on
the small SUV within its first few months on sale.
Announcing the model’s latest success, Ollie Marriage, Head of Car Testing at
Top Gear, said: “The EX30 manages to play to Volvo’s traditional strengths, yet
also pushes into new areas. It’s compact, easy to place, has just enough space
inside for four and enough range to be daily usable. Outwardly it looks neat
yet tough; inwardly the quality and tactility blow every other EV in the £35k
bracket into the weeds.”
Nicole Melillo Shaw, Volvo Car UK Managing Director, said: “The value of this
award goes beyond being another title for our landmark EV. It strengthens the
positive consensus of opinion of the EX30, building awareness not just of its
individual qualities, but also our wider strategy to deliver desirable,
practical and sustainable electrified mobility.”
The notable awards gathered so far by the EX30 include car of the year titles
from The Sun, Carwow and Electrifying.com. It was named World Urban Car in the
World Car Awards and Eco Warrior of the Year in the Topgear.com Awards, and has
won multiple category awards for small SUVs and family cars, including Best EV
Small SUV at the recent Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards. Its design
excellence was also rewarded with a ‘Best of the Best’ award in the Red Dot
Design Awards.
The EX30 has been developed with a focus on efficient performance and
whole-life sustainability, resulting in it having the smallest carbon footprint
of any Volvo car to date. Its battery electric powertrain provides a driving
range of up to 296 miles, while using a DC power supply means it takes from
just 26 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80% capacity.
