Local entrepreneur and great grandson joins our family motoring business

We at Ray Chapman Motors are pleased to welcome a new member to the team on our 50th anniversary – the 20-year-old great grandson of the company’s founder.

Ray Chapman Motors Malton was founded by Raymond Chapman back in 1969. 50 years later, his great grandson, Nathan Chapman – a 20-year old entrepreneur from Malton – has become the fourth generation of the Chapman family to be involved in the family business.

After completing his first year reading Business Management & Entrepreneurship at Nottingham, Nathan transferred to an online university to continue his studies whilst working full time in Malton to launch his own online shopping website, Locavo, which hosted goods produced by local, independent retailers operating in the Ryedale area. Over the last year, Nathan hand-delivered almost 2,000 orders to local customers in his Locavo-branded van.

After receiving an offer to purchase Locavo, Nathan is turning his attention to the family business. He has joined the Ray Chapman Motors Malton team as a full time Product Specialist and will undergo an intensive training programme with Volvo Car UK and continue to read Business Management through a distance learning University.

Nathan Chapman commented on his new appointment:

“Having grown up around Volvo, it is such an honour to join the family business and follow in the footsteps of my father, grandfather and great grandfather. Launching Locavo and studying Business Management gave me a great initial understanding of the business world. I’m really looking forward to taking on a new challenge and meeting our loyal customers who have helped to make the Ray Chapman name so successful for so many years.”
