Yorkshire car retailer fends off competition from 13,500 rivals to take top gong at the 16th annual Auto Trader Retailer Awards

Ray Chapman Motors has been presented the Customer Experience award at the national Auto Trader Retailer Awards 2023.

Based in Yorkshire, Ray Chapman Motors has dealerships in Bradford, Huddersfield, Malton and York and has beaten competition from circa 13,500 UK automotive retailers to receive the Customer Experience Award (Over 100) at the 16th annual Auto Trader Retailer Awards. The Customer Experience Award winners were determined by the UK’s largest automotive mystery shopping exercise; an in-depth analysis of customer engagement across a variety of digital touchpoints including email, phone and online messaging.

Now in its 16th year, the Auto Trader Retailer Awards celebrate the very best in automotive retailing; those brands that are pushing the standard of all aspects of the industry, including digital retailing, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

This year, circa 1500 of Auto Trader’s best performing retailer partners were shortlisted to just 63 finalists split across nine different award categories, of which just 22 were crowned winners, determined by a combination of in-depth analysis of millions of data points, independent judging by a panel of experts, and the results from the UK’s largest consumer mystery shopping programme among auto retailers. Accordingly, the winners are among the top 1% of Auto Trader’s retailer partners and are rightly considered the best of the best.

This year’s ceremony took place at premier London venue 8 Northumberland Avenue, just off Trafalgar Square. The event was hosted by Auto Trader Editorial Director Erin Baker and Sales Director Matthew Schofield, alongside Auto Trader’s YouTube Director and former Top Gear presenter, Rory Reid.

Speaking about their win, Duncan Chapman, Managing Director said: "Winning the Customer Experience Award is of great importance to us as we have spent many years developing a company culture that is centred around customer satisfaction. This is especially important today in the digital age, customers need to feel confident in our credibility which will hopefully result in loyalty to the brand and our company."

Commenting on this year’s winner, Auto Trader’s Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Coe,said:“We were delighted to come together under one roof in the capital and put on an incredible event for our automotive retail partners to recognise the very best in the industry. All these retailers, brands and individuals inspire others in the industry on a daily basis and set the bar for all retailers across all sectors. The industry has and is changing at a pace, but again we see the huge innovation and agility of retailers, and so it’s a privilege to be able to celebrate those businesses that are truly driving our industry forward for the benefit of both their counterparts and their customers.”
