EX90 shines in LA: Media praises our new flagship SUV

Journalists and car critics took the new Volvo EX90 for a spin in Los Angeles.

Throughout the years, we’ve had innumerable journalists and car critics joining our media test drives to take newly launched cars for a spin. But it’s probably safe to say that seldom have test drivers had more positive things to say about a car than they did about the EX90 – our new, all-electric SUV.

Over three hot summer weeks in August and September, we hosted a global media test drive southeast of Los Angeles in California. We invited hundreds of journalists from all corners of the world – 36 countries, to be precise – to experience all the desirable traits the EX90 has to offer.

“The EX90 is the best electric family SUV available right now,” stated British Top Gear.

So, what is it about the EX90 that journalists appreciate the most? Well, they certainly like its comfortable and practical interior, state-of-the-art safety features, and advanced technology. And they also seem to appreciate the silent yet powerful ride, as well as the solid sustainability credentials.

Luckily for us, the journalists have been eager to spread the word about their positive experiences with their audiences – both in traditional media and on social media.

Here are some of the top remarks:

• British Top Gear writes that the EX90 is “as practical and cleverly designed as you’d hope from Volvo.” They even state that “the EX90 is the best electric family SUV available right now”.

• Their British colleagues at What Car? are on a similar page, writing that “the Volvo EX90 is comfortable, quiet, luxurious and practical, plus it offers a long official range from a full charge.”

• “The steering is nicely weighted too, but the overriding theme is one of sheer quietness, and we say that with full knowledge that EVs are quiet. This one is on another level,” writes US-based Car and Driver. They also clarify that the “2025 EX90 is the electric SUV you didn’t know you needed.”

• Across the border, Canadian Auto Trader's headline reads, “New Volvo EX90: the greatest Volvo of all time?”

• German Auto Bild points out that the EX90 is ”confidently tuned, comfortable, and still precise enough for reliable maneuvers even at higher speeds.” They also conclude that “the steering and suspension of the EX90 are excellent, matching the calming nature of a car that feels like a good friend from the very first meter.”

• “Volvo has done an outstanding job. What strikes you first is the refinement: it’s staggering. This might be the quietest car I’ve travelled in (…),” writes the journalist from The Intercooler in the UK.

• Finally, Digital Trends in the US writes that “while it may not be the quickest on paper, the EX90 accelerates in a brisk, but poised manner. It also exhibits impressive poise in corners, gliding through them with minimal body roll (…)”
