Administrator Emma Heselwood was awarded a first class in her BA (Hons) business management degree which she achieved whilst working full-time at our Malton dealership.

Emma, 25, works as a Sales Administrator/Customer Liaison Support in the Fleet department and attended classes two evenings a week for the past three years at York St John University as well as dedicating additional evenings and weekends to her studies.

She said: “I am just enjoying the rest at the moment, but eventually I hope the degree will help me progress in my career. Undertaking the degree has given me a very different view of the workplace, it has helped me see how the many parts integrate to create a successful business rather than just concentrating on my own job.

“The course covered various aspects of business with some of my favourite modules being in marketing management, business law, strategic human resource management and critical issues in financial control. It has certainly opened my eyes to the wider world of business.”

Emma, who took up her post two years ago when she had already completed more than a year of her degree, will graduate at a formal ceremony which will take place at the stunning York Minster in September.

A masters is now an option for Emma although for the moment she is enjoying having so much free time.

Duncan Chapman, Dealer Principal, commented; “We are delighted with Emma’s achievements, which is a reflection of her hard work and dedication, attributes we as a business have certainly seen in practice since she joined us in 2014. We have taken great pride in watching her confidence grow since undertaking her degree in terms of her business knowledge and willingness to share her insights on certain aspects of our organisation which has proved hugely beneficial for us.”
